This article from the World Socialist Website draws attention to the fact that not alot has changed with the character of those in power and the same underlying forces of imperialism is still very much present . Over the past weekend, the leaders of the world’s great powers met in France to commemorate the official end of World War I. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron and US President Donald Trump pulled long faces, hugged each other and gave speeches lamenting the “horror” and “tragedy” of a war that claimed more than 16 million lives. But their talk of “tragedy” and “suicide” could not hide the fact that they are all engaged in active preparations for a new and deadly world military conflict. read full story / add a comment

Today saw another hearing, this time in Court 5, Dublin Circuit Court - Judge Melanie Greally presiding - in a case involving peace activists Edward Horgan and Dan Dowling. The case relates to the alleged writing of some graffiti (DANGER DANGER DO NOT FLY) on a US war-plane at Shannon Airport on 25 September 2017, and a charge of trespass relating to the same incident which the Ennis District Court has arguably being trying to hold in reserve (or park as they describe it) so that if we are acquitted in the Circuit Court they might have second go at us in the lower District Court. read full story / add a comment

There have been numerous attempts to frame the Assad regime with launching and carrying out chemical attacks in Syria. All of them so far have either been fake or carried out by the so called 'Rebels' and terrorists largely backed by Washington, London and Paris through their proxies in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey before it turned away from the US after it organised an attempted coup against Erdogan. In all cases the chemical attacks and talk of them has been used by the US and it's allies as an excuse to bomb Syria. There is absolute no reason and motive for Assad to use chemical weapons either now or in the past. At this stage he has won the war in Syria and expelled most of the terrorists or done deals with them and arranged for them to be bused out. From a logical and motive point of view it would be insane for him to do this. He would gain zero. On the other hand it makes perfect sense not so much for the terrorists who are just pawns in a bigger game, but perfect sense for the US because Syria has been on their target since at least 2001 and they have wanted regime change from the start. They have also been humiliated that their terrorists have been defeated and their regional plans thwarted. This turn-around happened largely happened after Syria invited Russia into Syria to help in the war effort and it represents the fist time since the breakup of the Soviet Union that Russia has been able to get up of it's knee and challenge the destructive insanity of the US. And so this gives some background to the report below that appeared on RT. “Foreign specialists” have arrived in Syria and may stage a chemical attack using chlorine in “the next two days,” the Russian Defense Ministry said. This will be filmed for international media to frame Damascus forces. Defense Ministry Spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said the operation is planned to unfold in the village of Kafr Zita in Syria’s northwestern Hama Province in “the next two days.” read full story / add a comment

he IAWM condemns the withdrawal by US President Trump from the Iran nuclear deal and the imposition of fresh sanctions on the country. The IAWM also condemns Israel’s overnight attacks on alleged Iranian positions in Syria, a deliberate escalation of aggression which was no doubt inspired if not enabled by Trump’s decision. The IAWM has long since condemned all foreign and local military action in Syria, including that of Iran, that has killed and maimed so many Syrians. We have called on numerous occasions for a complete and lasting ceasefire and for massive humanitarian aid to help rebuild the country. read full story / add a comment

The Peace and Neutrality Alliance along with World Beyond War condemns unreservedly the overnight attacks carried out by Western powers on the Syrian Arab Republic. The pretext for this offensive is that a chemical weapons attack has allegedly been carried out by the Syrian Government and that international law banning prohibiting chemical weapons must be upheld. Given that the bombing of a sovereign state is itself a violation of international law, we are being asked to believe that international law must be broken in order that it be upheld -- a manifest absurdity. read full story / add a comment

The Western Corporate and State media has been saturated for the past month or so over the Skripal poisoning case of an ex Russia intelligence officer and his daughter. The level of hysterical reaction is enough to make you sit up and realize there is a lot more going on here and there is some kind of agenda being sent and it is clearly part of the relentless ongoing Russia phobia and hating campaign that we have all had to bear with over the last few years and particularly so since the US sponsored Neo Nazi coup in the Ukraine in Feb 2014 and then the nerve of the Russia army to be invited into Syria by the Syria government and their near total elimination of the US-UK-France backed ISIS terrorists injected into Syria (via Saudi Arabia and Turkey before the latter's turn away from US) to push their own agenda to destroy regimes not compliant to the West.
In this analysis below from "The Saker" he uses simple logic to completely show the absurdity of the claims of the UK government regarding the Skripal case although in a more wider context. It is quite clear to anyone with a few brain cells that this is part of a deep state operation. read full story / add a comment
