No To Sanctions On Iran!

category international | anti-war / imperialism | other press author Monday April 12, 2010 16:25author by pat c - Hands Off the People of Iran Report this post to the editors

From ‘smart sanctions’ to sanctions with ‘bite’

Yassamine Mather writes about the ongoing Imperialist agenda to impose even stronger sanctions against Iran. Now Obama has the support of the Chinese regime. Yassamine makes it clear that this has got nothing to do with nuclear weapons. Full text at link.

For the last few months, every day - and at times more than once a day - media presentation of world news has been dominated by US attempts to impose sanctions on Iran. Sometimes it is the visit of a foreign head of state to Washington that is the occasion for the latest call; at other times it is Hillary Clinton’s world tour, or a phone call from Barack Obama to a Chinese leader.

As we in Hands Off the People of Iran have stated time and again, the threat has clearly little to do with nuclear issues. Spies and physicists are unanimous that Iran is years away from achieving nuclear weapons capability. ‘Irresponsible’ countries - some with direct and clear connections to terrorist organisations, such as Pakistan, or with dangerous, trigger-happy ‘security’ forces, such as Israel - not only possess nuclear weapons, but refuse to sign up to the non-proliferation treaty, yet the US and its allies have no concern about the nuclear danger they present.

We in Hopi oppose all imperialist sanctions - whether “smart” or “with bite” - not because we support the Tehran regime in any way: we most certainly do not. We oppose sanctions because they hit ordinary Iranians first and foremost.

Good to see that Ron Paul recognises that sanctions are an act of war. Full text at link.

Sanction Against Iran Is An Act Of War
By Congressman Ron Paul

This legislation, whether the House or Senate version, will lead us to war on Iran. The sanctions in this bill, and the blockade of Iran necessary to fully enforce them, are in themselves acts of war according to international law. A vote for sanctions on Iran is a vote for war against Iran. I urge my colleagues in the strongest terms to turn back from this unnecessary and counterproductive march to war.

"Imperialist agenda to impose even stronger sanctions against Iran."

The nutter who controls Iran reserves an empty place at his banqueting table for the visitation of a prophet.

He is perfectly capable of lobbing a nuclear bomb onto Dublin or anywhere else he chooses.

That is if he is allowed to get one.

It is indeed a topsy turvy world when the ANTI WAR campaigners campaign against those who are verbally threathened by a country which talks about and threathens war .

Who is buliding up the rhethoric if not Iran ?
Who is building up tension and like Saddam Hussein of Iraq is tempting other countries to take action if not Iran .?

Meanwhile the remnants of the democratic movement have been arrested and many killed by Iran s "legal " systerm .

One would have thought that the anti War movement would be fighting for Democracy in Iran and freedom of speech
