I've been trying to work out who will be listed as anti-bin tax local election candidates. I'm not making any comment on whether this is a waste of time, just merely trying to ascertain who is likley to be the candidate in each ward. Below is the list I have compiled. I'm not sure that this is accurate. I'm only going on previous announcements. That's where you come in. read full story / add a comment

Bin campaigners slam High Court Ruling, plan Appeal Dublin Campaign Against the Bin Tax has strongly criticised today?s High Court decision in a case brought by three Finglas residents regarding the fairness and legality of the imposition of bin charges. The case centred around the ?polluter pays? principle and challenged the legality of the imposition of a set bin charge which did not take account of the volume of waste produced. read full story / add a comment

Last night Dublin City council went through its annual charade of will they - won't they. (We always know they will). After loud rumblings that the estimates would not be passed, they were. Again. In order for them to pass, Fine Gael allowed a free vote and the Greens after receiving assurances also voted for them. Can somebody from the Greens and in the name of open democracy, please let us know what those assurances were. read full story / add a comment

Over the past 5 weeks I have got myself a new job. Every Wednesday morning I arise at 7 am and head out to join the brother, along with comrades from the SWP Dun Laoghaire branch (who, in fairness, have gotten up even earlier!) and some local non-payers. Our mission to make sure that every bin on the Granville Road, Doonsalla, Watsons road is lifted whether they have paid some, all or no bin tax.
