The cost of the next law suit.?
A flurry of abnegations and 'I am not to blame' responses emerged from Leinster House, recently on publication of the Travers report.
The story may not be over....yet.
The four Goldmines, more frolics to come. Incredibly, There has been only one serious casualty so far,in the horrendous “old age pensioner mugging saga”, publicized in March 2004.It culminated in the removal from office of an heretofore unknown –but now notorious-civil servant, one, Michael Kelly.
Michael was transferred from his post as secretary general of the Department of Health,as punishment, to the conveniently vacant position as head of the Higher Education Authority.
He and Mr Michael Martin,(the recent Health Minister, prior to the appointment of Bertie’s troubleshooting dominatrix- Mata Harney) gave conflicting evidence to the Travers inquiry on crucial issues, but it was Mr Kelly who may bear the consequences, of opprobrium, loss of stature, and consequent mental suffering, due to adverse comments from his fellow Mandarins.
He may feel that retention of his salary of €166,000. is insufficient to compensate him for being scapegoated, for 30 years of sinning by his political masters whose crimes may cost taxpayers more than 1 billion Euros.
He may sue the state for damages to his good name and reputation.
The High Court’s learned judges may wish to deliberate at length the implications of evidence and sworn testimonials provided by former Fianna Fail Ministers for Health in the case of ‘The taxpayers of Ireland and Bertie Ahern against discredited civil servant, one Michael Kelly’
All previous Ministers will likely give evidence that there was hardly ever any meaningful communication or interaction between politicians and civil servants, because of a mutual, deep chasm of distrust and lack of confidence, between the two groups.
This may explain the necessity for Martin Cullen and others to engage the services of beautiful advisors/ public relations consultants from outside the civil service, (at double the salary of the old fogies within it.!)
THe 'Boss of bosses' is intact-superglued to supremecy.
